Above Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn, lies the picturesque hamlet of Blatten. In winter, the Blatten mountain restaurant is located directly on the downhill run from Furi to Zermatt (slope number 50) – ideal for winter sports enthusiasts. The restaurant is also easily accessible on foot: an idyllic winter hiking trail leads from the village center to the restaurant in about 40 minutes. In summer, several hiking trails lead through the beautiful mountain landscape to Blatten.

Every day we prepare products fresh, with much respect and love. During summer our gardens offer us a rich variety of organic grown herbs, vegetables and green salads.
Tradition
For generations the Bergrestaurant Blatten is hosted by the family Taugwalder. Likewise, the family is strongly associated with nature and the mountains. We are happy to let our guests participate in the traditions and the warm hospitality of our staff and the family.
Our history
The Blatten mountain restaurant is a piece of living Zermatt history. Hospitality has been cultivated at this location since the early days of tourism around 1850 – back then as a small tea house run by the Julen family. From the 1950s onwards, grandmother Ludowika, formerly of the Julen family, was the heart and soul of the establishment for decades.
However, the Taugwalder family's roots go beyond gastronomy and run deep into alpinism. Leander met his future wife Simone on the summit of the Matterhorn – an encounter that could only have taken place up here. Together, they ran the restaurant with passion and dedication for over 40 years.
Today, the management is in the hands of the next generation: daughter Sarah and her husband Hans are continuing the family tradition with fresh enthusiasm and a great love for the region.
Apartement-Luxus Pur
The house Villa Taugwalder is one of these typical old Walliser houses with its cosy charm. The first two floors habe been constructed in the 1870's, the upper floors and the stone part on the side in the 1920's. All apartments are new renovated.
