Just above Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn, lies the hamlet of Blatten. In winter, the Bergrestaurant Blatten is located directly on the downhill fromm Furi to Zermatt. For pedestrians, the restaurant is accessible by a winter hiking trail. It is a 40-minute walk from the centre of the village.

Every day we prepare products fresh, with much respect and love. During summer our gardens offer us a rich variety of organic grown herbs, vegetables and green salads.

Tradition

For generations the Bergrestaurant Blatten is hosted by the family Taugwalder. Likewise, the family is strongly associated with nature and the mountains. We are happy to let our guests participate in the traditions and the warm hospitality of our staff and the family.

Our history

Since the beginnings of tourism in Zermatt, this traditional mountain restaurant Blatten still exists. At the beginning, around 1850, it was a small teahouse which entertained the family. From the early 50s onwards, mother Ludowika was the hostess for decades.

The roots of the Taugwalder family lie not only in gastronomy, but also in alpinism. Leander met his wife Simone on the summit of the Matterhorn. For more than 40 years, Leander and Simone, have been running the company with passion. Since recently, the line has been handed over to daughter Sarah and her husband Hans.

Apartement-Luxus Pur

The house Villa Taugwalder is one of these typical old Walliser houses with its cosy charm. The first two floors habe been constructed in the 1870's, the upper floors and the stone part on the side in the 1920's. All apartments are new renovated.
